What Rebbel's connect flow asks for

Last verified: August 10, 2026

What happens when you click Connect Meta

  1. Rebbel redirects your browser to Facebook’s own OAuth consent dialog — you’re on facebook.com, not a Rebbel-controlled page.
  2. You choose which Facebook Page(s) to share access to, and grant the permissions listed below.
  3. Facebook redirects you back to Rebbel, which reads only the Page(s) you approved.
  4. If your Page has a linked Instagram Business account, it connects automatically in the same step.

Page & Instagram permissions requested

Rebbel requests the same permission set for both the Facebook and Instagram connect flows:

  • email

identifies your Meta account so Rebbel knows who connected.

  • pages_show_list

lets Rebbel see which Pages you manage, so you can pick the right one.

  • pages_read_engagement

reads your Page's basic info so drafted posts can reflect your existing voice.

  • pages_manage_posts

the actual publish permission — required to post approved content to your Page. Nothing posts without your explicit approval in Rebbel first.

  • business_management

needed when your Page lives inside a Meta Business Manager, which most do.

  • instagram_basic

reads your linked Instagram account's basic profile, if you have one.

  • instagram_manage_insights

reads basic Instagram performance metrics, if connected.

  • instagram_content_publish

the Instagram publish permission — same approval gate as pages_manage_posts.

Ad account permissions are separate

Connecting an ad account (optional, and only shown once your account is eligible) is a distinct step with its own permission request — ads_management, ads_read, business_management. You’re never asked for these just to connect a Page/Instagram account. See the ads account guide.

What Rebbel never gets from this

Your Facebook password — OAuth means Rebbel never sees or stores your login credentials, only a revocable access token scoped to the permissions above. You can disconnect at any time from Rebbel’s Connections page, or revoke access directly from your Facebook Business settings.

Connecting from Claude or another AI assistant?

Not seeing the newest Rebbel tools in your conversation? Claude (and other MCP clients) cache a connector’s tool list from when you first connected — a fresh conversation alone doesn’t refresh it. Disconnect and reconnect the Rebbel connector (or hit “refresh” in your assistant’s connector settings) to pick up new tools.
