Edit your profile on each channel

On this page

People who like a post often tap through to your profile next, so it’s worth having your picture, bio and link in place. Each section below shows where those live on one channel, and how long or how big each one can be. Platforms move these settings now and then, so every section links to the platform’s own help page too.

Facebook

Change your Page’s details while you’re switched into your Page, not your personal profile.

  • Profile picture. This is the round picture next to every post. On a computer, open your Page, click your Page’s name, then click the camera icon on the picture and choose a photo. A square picture of 400 × 400 pixels fits.
  • Bio. Facebook calls it your Intro, and it’s the short description at the top of your Page. Tap Edit on your Page, then the pencil next to Intro. It holds up to 100 characters.
  • Link. Your website shows on your Page so people can go straight to it. Tap Edit, then the pencil next to Links.
  • Cover image. This is the wide image across the top of your Page, and everyone can see it. On a computer, open your Page and click Edit cover photo, upload a photo, drag it into place and save. A cover of 851 × 315 pixels fits.
  • Hours. Your hours tell people when you’re open. Tap Edit, then the pencil next to Details, where your address and hours live.

You need full access to the Page to change these. Someone with task access only can’t edit them.

Facebook’s own help pages: add information to your Page, change your Page’s profile picture and change your Page’s cover photo.

Instagram

Every change starts the same way: go to your profile and tap Edit profile.

  • Profile picture. Tap Edit picture or avatar, choose a photo, then tap Done. Anyone can see it, on or off Instagram. A square picture of 400 × 400 pixels fits.
  • Bio. Your bio sits under your name and says what you do. Tap Bio, write it, then tap Done. It holds up to 150 characters.
  • Link. Tap Links, then Add external link, then Done. You can add up to five links and reorder them, and anyone can see them.
  • Cover image. Instagram doesn’t have a cover image.
  • Hours. Instagram doesn’t have an hours field. A professional account can show your category and contact details instead, under Public business information in Edit profile.
