Connect YouTube — what to have ready

YouTube is a video-only channel in Rebbel: the videos you schedule go up on the channel you picked as Shorts. Connecting takes about a minute on Google’s own screens. Nothing uploads until you say so.

Step 1: What you need

A YouTube channel on the Google account you’ll connect. One Google account can own several channels; you pick the one Rebbel should use on Google’s screen during connect. For the post itself you need a vertical (9:16) or square video up to 3 minutes — that is what YouTube treats as a Short.

Step 2: Connect it in Rebbel

In Rebbel open your brand → Connections → Connect YouTube. Before you leave for Google, tick the box confirming you’ll only publish videos that follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and that you agree to YouTube’s Terms of Service. Then choose Continue to Google, sign in, pick the channel and choose Allow. You land back on the Connections page with the channel’s name showing. Start and finish in the same browser — Google sends you back to the tab you started from.

Step 3: Publish a Short

Add or import your video to a post, then pick the YouTube chip. The chip only appears when the post carries a Short-shaped video (vertical or square, 3 minutes or less); a text or image post can’t go to YouTube, and Rebbel says so before you schedule rather than failing afterwards. The post’s headline becomes the video’s title and the caption its description. When you schedule, the confirmation shows one line: By publishing to YouTube you confirm this video follows YouTube’s Community Guidelines. Choosing Publish or Schedule is that confirmation.

Step 4: Uploads are private for now

Every video Rebbel uploads is set to private on YouTube — visible only to you, from YouTube Studio, until Rebbel’s YouTube review completes. The post page in Rebbel says the same, so a private upload is not a failed one. You can change a video’s visibility yourself in YouTube Studio at any point.

Step 5: Music and clip length

Shorts over 1 minute that carry claimed music can be blocked by YouTube. If your clip has licensed music, keep it under 60 seconds, or use a clip with no licensed music. Rebbel shows this note before you publish a longer clip; it is advice, not a block.

Step 6: Disconnecting

In Rebbel: Connections → Disconnect on the YouTube row. Rebbel deletes the stored authorization straight away and stops offering YouTube for new posts; videos already on your channel stay there. You can also remove Rebbel’s access from Google’s side at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Step 7: What Rebbel can and can't do

Rebbel asks Google for permission to upload videos to the channel you picked and to read that channel’s name and picture, so the Connections page can show which one is connected. Google lists that second permission as viewing your YouTube account; Rebbel uses it only for that, once, when you connect. It uploads only the videos you schedule. It doesn’t look at your existing videos, comments, playlists or statistics, and it can’t edit or delete them.
